Artist: Li Maizi

 

 

Li Maizi (Li Tingting), born in 1989, Beijing. She is a feminist activist, and was arrested in Beijing in 2015 and released on bail a month later. Li Maizi continues to speak out for women’s rights and sexual minorities. She is a member of the feminist activist group and has long been concerned about gender equality issues. She has participated in the planning of performance art women’s rights activities such as “Bloody Bride”, “Occupy Men’s Toilet”, “Wentabian Shave Head”, and “Xi’an Mulan”.

In 2015, Foreign Policy magazine selected her as one of the world’s top 100 thinkers, and the BBC also nominated her as one of the world’s 100 women.
